In teaching there’s a saying: Arguing with a student is like wrestling with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it.
In this analogy applied to politics, Rush Limbaugh is obviously the pig.
But I think there’s something more sinister going on. Who owns the slop? Actually, who makes their living by televising the mud wrestling?
The media in this country still sets the agenda when it comes to politics in this country. Through their minions, the Washington Press, they facilitate a round-the-clock, sloppy-ass wrestling match between two fundamentally entrenched parties.
They still continue this charade today even as the country as a whole rejected the Conservative thinking. And the media—if it had to—would justify itself by saying Republicans still have a large share of the Congress.
And we say, “Yeah, because you elevate these two parties, their partnership in hegemony becomes self-fulfilling.”
And the media just doesn’t even respond to that Chomsky, Howard Zinn nonsense.
The big reasons that the Right loves the never-ending Right v. Left psychodrama: 1) The Right had lacked—after Civil Rights and before the Christian Conservative Movement—any real foot soldiers to match the Left; 2) Businessmen at heart, they can’t resist the free advertising; 3) It transformed this country from a Center-Left country into a Center-Dittohead country.
So, I suppose I should say that Obama shouldn’t wrestle with Limbaugh. He should let the failure of his beliefs and influence speak for itself. But I can’t.
The Left needs to stay mad. We need to remember that we allowed a vast Right-Wing Conspiracy to penalize blowjobs and Gay Marriage anesthetize our media, our leaders and even ourselves to the blind greed of the mortgage bundlers, the derivatives mafia and the war profiteers.
We need remember that the only thing we have to fear is Dittoheadism itself.

Some want peace. Some like battles.
Some search for solutions. Some see no answers.
Some are greedy. Some are selfless.
Some show compassion. Some exercise bigotry.
Some speak with ears closed. Some hear with their mouth shut.

Why can’t anyone see this? Wake up! Wealth is not limited! If it was, we would still be wiping our butts in outhouses! How about creating wealth, not limiting it! You folks on the left are mean and what you do to people is cruel. You crush their dreams they are capable of achieving as an individual by having them buy into a collectivism vision whose sole purpose is to give power to those who cannot achieve anything outside of working in the government.
The chickens will come home to roost in this madness eventually.
