The Conservatives’ Undying Belief in Their Right to Rule

Remember school elections. Remember the kids who ran and won. There was the rare charismatic kid who stepped up, won and then wondered why she ever wasted her time. Who wants to be in charge of bullshit?

Mostly it was the kids who cared too much. The kids who got a kick out of the tiny bit of power, the ability to sway how the world functioned. And they cared more about winning than you ever could.

The leaders of the Conservative movement are those kids. They care way more than you could. They care so much about personal freedom that they’ll fight to keep you from having the right to choose. Smaller government is so important to them that they’ll hire companies from military industrial complex to support the military and not call it corporate welfare. They’re so sure of their Free Market philosophy that they’ll keep science they find immoral out of the marketplace of ideas.

Basically, they believe in nothing, except their right to run things.

Of course there are the few true gun nuts and the haughty Lifers. But to align with the scummy pro-Corporate forces who truly fund the Conservative movement they must invade our women’s wombs and pry tiny guns out of the hands of dead, cold hands of aborted fetuses.

Yet since 1980, Republican Presidential candidates have beaten the Democrats’ standard-bearers five times. The only two elections Democrats won were 1992 and 1996, and you could make a serious and boring argument that those elections were only won thanks to Ross Perot pulling bloodied chunks out of the Conservative base.

They’re better at this than we are. They care more. Not because of convictions, you see Ralph Reed, the former head of the Christian Coalition, making money off a complex lobbying scheme that involved Indian Gambling operations, bending only to the mighty dollar, and you know these guys are as moral as the young preacher in There Will Be Blood after he’s lost everything. You see President Bush appropriating the concept of “No Child Left Behind,” once the siren’s song of hope for poor kids, and turning it into a tool to paralyze public education, and you know there’s no moral center in the GOP’s appeal to Values voters. Forget the hundreds of thousands of civilians who died in Iraq for no compelling reason, if you can.

And now as these free marketers are so busy suckling the government nipple to nurse the ravages of deregulation, you have to willfully suspend disbelief to discuss what used to be known as the “Conservative Ideology.”

The conclusion is simple: They’re willing to do whatever they can to win. And not because they believe in what they are fighting for, just because they believe in fighting.

So what can we do?

We point out that McCain has been a complete “Yes Man” to Bush’s disastrous presidency. We point out how dangerous and reckless he is and use the choice of Palin as evidence. We link people to Obama’s great new commercial that will show how he will change this economy into system that works for the workers of this country, not just the corporate raiders. We make sure that everyone we know votes.

And we have to care. Because if we don’t care, we know who will.

I’m so glad I’m not a whiney socialist begging for a government nipple.

Nice. Socialists like Blackwater and the banking industry are keeping the government nipple awful busy these days.

It’s people like Scott who make me proud to be an American. He’s probably a true patriot: complete with a small-penis-enhancing Ford F-350—with optional gun-rack.

Oh I didn’t get the gun rack.

I mean I don’t have a small penis.

See dipsh-it I can laugh at myself, try laughing at yourself sometime welfare baby.

Welfare baby?

Congrats…. glad you can laugh at yourself… it was pretty hilarious to say that you DIDN’T get the gun-rack… I mean, I’m still cracking up right now.
